To IBEC Presenters:
This information is intended to help make your life easier regarding presentation logistics.
- We will provide laptops and projectors (NO overhead transparency projectors this year, sorry).
- There will likely be two Windows laptops and one Mac laptop available.
- We strongly suggest bringing your presentation on a USB Memory Stick, that has been proven to work in a Windows laptop (Windows will not read Mac-only formatted memory sticks). Macs can read Windows-formatted memory sticks fine, to our knowledge. If needed, we may also be able to swap around laptops to make your life easier, though this may inconvenience other presenters, so we would like to avoid the laptop “shuffle,” if possible.
- You can also swap in your own laptop if that helps you. if you use a Mac, please bring your own adapter for VGA, if you elect this option.
- You may also wish to bring your presentation on a CD (though not all machines are guaranteed to have CD drives). Another approach is to make your PowerPoint (or Keynote) presentation into a PDF file, just in case. This will allow your presentation to be shown on ANY computer that has the free Adobe Acrobat Reader software installed, which is almost all computers. We STRONGLY recommend this rather simple backup strategy. PDF files are a generally great solution to compatibility issues (though you may lose any PowerPoint-specific interactivity–like animations that you may have placed into the original PowerPoint file).
- At the moment, we are not explicitly supporting tablet or smartphone-based connections, though you are welcome to try to get you gear to work with ours. 🙂
